That's it for this year!
“20 years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones that you did do. Sail away from the safe harbour. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain.

It's hard to leave just when things are getting to be so much fun, but I'm off to the mountains a bit sooner than usual this year(actually I'm trying to escape before I get tied down with any more work). It's time to transition to my winter job where I've undertaken to raise money for kids who need ski gear and I want to spend some productive time on that before the snow flies.

Continuing the discussion from the previous post, I've created this graphic which shows the Evolution of transparency in real estateAs you can see, DailyStats.ca is back in the paleolithic period when we were still chimpanzees(but it makes sense, as I've been referred to as a monkey). Mike will be providing all the daily stats efficiently and comprehensively on his site. My SFH and Condo Stats pages will get updated weekly throughout the winter.  I'll attempt to do an update on the blog and/or What's New every month for the sake of continuity.

With all the wild animals I encounter in the mountains, it's never a sure thing that I will return in the spring. I do, however, enjoy running into Cougars. Dealing with these wild animals will be a pleasure compared to the menacing beasts who prowl the internet.

Hopefully, I will be back here when the first robin makes its welcome appearance in the spring. You will once again be provided with the information you need to make informed decisions. We will expose the so-called experts and reveal the real truth. And raise hell!Smile

For anyone looking to buy or sell, my associate Kendall will be working hard through the winter and will be happy to help you.

Thank you for all the comments and feedback. Your input is essential to the ongoing education and enlightenment of the public in matters concerning real estate.

This Thanksgiving weekend is a good time to count your blessings for living here in the 2nd best(anybody going to bite on that one?) place on earth. Where you can give your opinion and not get thrown in jail. Where lynching is only done on computers. Where you can have sex without getting stoned by an angry mob. Where you can buy a house with 5% down LOL. We are truly the luckiest people to have had the good fortune of spending our brief sojourn on this planet in Alberta.

I'll be doing regular upates on my What's New page.

All the best

For all those who are waiting for the opportunity to throw me under the bus, my Crash/Confidence Index predicted the median price would be under $398,000 at the end of October.

Crazy as it sounds, it predicts the median will be under $390,000 in Jun 2011. How bizarre is that?

Bob, I want to wish you another great winter!  Thanks again for all the compliments, I really do appreciate it coming from you.

Regarding your comment from the previous post, "Ask him sometime how he got started doing this" I thought I would tell your readers here.

Bob was the first agent in Calgary to ever provide such detailed statistics and transparency to the real estate market.  He was the pioneer in empowering consumers to make decisions based on actual facts and data and not just spin.  Bob graciously allowed me to take over doing the daily stats on my site, and for that I'm very, very, grateful.

Thanks again for everything, and all the best this winter!

No city in Canada gets a better set of stats than you provide to the people of Calgary. It should be noted that it takes a fair bit of work every day to update them, so here's a reminder to everyone to let Mike know you appreciate his efforts. -Bob

Anyone else having difficulties trying to log onto the blog? I've had two emails today from people who couldn't get on here. I realize that if you're reading this, you've made it here, but maybe it's an intermittent problem.

Have a good winter Bob. With southern hemisphere summer just about to begin we've decided to postpone moving back to Canada until at least March/April. It will be interesting to see what prices do between now and then - flatline or collapse? :)

He stalked me on the ski trails. He stalks me on the internet. It appears that he's still dealing with his obsession. You can give your opinion here Take my online poll.

Bob, how are you able to look that far ahead?  I'm sure I'm not the only one who is confused and curious. I still don't understand the Crash Confidence Index so excuse my ignorance if you've already answered in a previous blog post.

It's still in the experimental stage. This might help you Crash/Confidence index explained. Pay special attention to my note about "lag time." Today's numbers tell us something about the future. Just how far into the future is a work in progress.

Just a reminder, I'll be doing regular updates to the CC index on my What's New  page. -Bob

Hi Bob,

I thought i would run this idea by you.  Since you won't be updating your blog for the winter did you want to direct people to my discussion forum?  I am running one just for personal knowledge and just learning myself.  If so, they can post at http://www.tactfulinvesting.com/  have a good vacation!

Done! All the best with your forum.

I haven't really escaped yet. Things got very busy all of a sudden and I've been working quite a bit. Pending sales today are at their highest level since May, so the market seems to be coming back to life. -Bob

Well, hopefully you can get away for some needed vacation but i guess when there is business to be dealt with that's a win win situation.  Good luck and thanks.
